After a heavy snowfall, the last thing you want to do is more shoveling. After clearing your driveway, steps and deck, you might think you’re done. However, leaving snow piled up can lead to damage in your roof, including leaks, ice dams and even collapse. If your roof is difficult to reach or you do not have the tools to remove the snow safely, US Roofing can come to your home or business and clear your roof off!
Why Should You Remove Snow From Your Roof?
Snow adds extra weight to your roof; and the more snow accumulates, the more it will weigh.
Every inch of snowfall adds up to a pound per square foot! Leaving snow on your roof can lead to thousands of extra pounds weighing down your primary defense. As melting snow runs down your roof it freezes when it hits the lower colder sections of the roof. This cycle is repeated day after day until a significant ice dam is created. This dam blocks water from reaching the gutters or properly shedding off the roof. It can also lift asphalt shingles and protective underlayment. Eventually melting ice and water works its way into your attic space, walls and ceiling below causing varying degrees of damage or formation of mold or mildew in the living areas of your home. Water damage can also lead to rot in beams and cause further structural damage to your home or business.
Removing the snow is an easy way to keep your home or business safe.
